  1.  This is file `README', version <1.0a>

  3. Using the fontinst package one can create Math fonts for any postscript family
  4. by combining them with some symbol fonts. The Mathtime fonts are particularly
  5. well suited for this purpose.  This direcory contains the fontinst input files
  6. and the font makefiles to create postscript math fonts for the following
  7. families: 
  8. Adobe Caslon
  9. Adobe Garamond
  10. Minion
  11. New Baskerville
  12. Palatino
  13. Stone Serif
  14. Times
  15. Utopia
  16.  
  17. For the symbols I used the Mathtime fonts. 
  18.  
  19. The metric files for these fonts, including style files for LaTeX2e, Plain
  20. TeX, AMSTeX and LAMSTeX can be found in the directory metrics/mathtime/*.

  22. These virtual fonts also solve a number of problems with the mathtime fonts.

  25. I included also a font makefile, which will build a set of Palatino math fonts by
  26. taking the symbols from the CM fonts and the humanistic glyphs from the
  27. postscript font.  The font makefile for these fonts is: fontplcm.tex.
